Office Status – COVID19

Update Jan 14th 2021

The province of Ontario is now under a stay-at-home order. Dental care is an essential service and we have been instructed to remain open during the time of this order. We have made changes to our procedures and protocols as necessary to continue to provide safe care both in office and at local hospitals. Scheduled appointments are proceeding as planned. If you have questions, please contact our office at info@kidsdentistry.ca or 705 722 3213.

Update Dec 21st 2020

The entire province of Ontario will enter the grey zone of Ontario’s Covid-19 response framework on Dec. 26th 2020 effectively putting the province into lock-down. Dentistry has been deemed an essential service and dental care will continue during the time that the region remains in grey zone. At present, it appears that scheduled appointments and surgeries both in-office and at the local hospitals will continue.

We have anticipated this announcement, and have prepared accordingly. Our office is fully compliant with Public Health Ontario recommendations and we have had in place for months precautions to keep both patients and staff safe during the pandemic.

Additional environmental sanitation and cleaning, strict PPE precautions, provisions for social distancing, and HEPA air filtration have been standard of care at our office since the summer. A central HEPA filtration system has been installed in our Surgi Suite that contains and filter room air to effectively create a negative pressure isolation room for surgeries and dental procedures. Additional HEPA filtration units are installed throughout the office and our staff are trained infection control procedures.

If you have questions about your scheduled appointment, please contact the office at 705 722 3213 or info@kidsdentistry.ca.

Update Nov 30th 2020

Today, Simcoe-Muskoka entered the Orange Zone of Ontario’s Covid-19 response framework. This imposes additional restrictions on in-office patient care. We are fully prepared for this change and have been proactively implementing the stricter standards since restarting care in the summer.

Our office has also began to see our regular patients for check-ups and cleanings, albeit, with additional restrictions. If you are a patient of Dr. Goralski or Dr. Morley and would like your child seen for a routine checkup, please contact the office.

Update Aug 10th 2020

Hello,

Our office is open although still at reduced capacity. We have not yet been able to start seeing patients for check-ups and cleanings and have a had a large number of children in need of care referred to us recently from the community.

We hope to be able to start check-ups and cleanings sometime in September. Please reach out to the office if you are a regular patient at the office and have a dental need. We will try to accommodate as best we can.

Update June 29th 2020

We are seeing patient for care although at a much reduced capacity. Our office has been inundated with referrals and requests to provide care. We are not able to keep up with demand. Check-up appointments have not been restarted as we are trying to direct our limited resources to treating pain and dental disease.

Update June 11st 2020

We have started seeing patients and contacting those that had appointments cancelled due to COVID-19. Our office is still at limited capacity and trying to ramp up. If your child’s appointment was cancelled in the last several months and you have an urgent dental need, please contact our office. We will try to reschedule your appointment.

Contact us via info@kidsdentistry.ca or 705 722 3213.

Update May 31st 2020

Early this evening, the RCDSO (the dental regulator) released new guidelines that implement the latest Ministry of Health directive to allow non-urgent dental care. We have been eagerly anticipating this order and have been repairing in anticipation to be able to resume care promptly. There are challenges ahead, but this is a start. We will be contacting patients to schedule necessary care and take care of toothaches. If your child is having problems, please contact the office at info@kidsdentistry.ca or 705 722 3213 so that we know you need more urgent care.

Update May 25th 2020

Late afternoon on May 22nd the RCDSO (the dental regulator) released updated guidelines for how and what care can be delivered at dental offices in Ontario. The rules call for strict PPE and upgrades of office HVAC systems. We have already made significant upgrades in anticipation of these changes and hope to be able to return to providing dental care to our patients in the near future. However, acquiring the appropriate PPE supplies remains a major challenge (because dentists and their staff are not considered front line workers and are not given access to these supplies by government agencies), and the HVAC upgrades are substantial and will take time to complete.

Furthermore, the guidelines limit care to what is deemed “essential”, ie causing pain. We are working with our colleagues and dental organizations to address the shortcomings of these guidelines and are looking forward to being able to provide dental care in the near future.

If you need to reach us, please email at info@kidsdentistry.ca.  You can also call the office at 705 722 3213 and leave a voice message.  If you are a patient of Dr. Goralski or Dr. Morley and have an emergency, please email Dr. Goralski (goralski@kidsdentistry.ca) or Dr. Morley (morley@kidsdentistry.ca) directly.

Update May 8th 2020

The government has in recent days given positive signals that the spread of Covid-19 is slowing and we remain hopeful that dental offices will be allowed to open in the not too distant future.

We are preparing for that eventual re-opening by updating our office procedures and protocols to make sure patients and staff are safe during the pandemic period. When you return to our office you will notice many changes to the way dental care is provided, at least until the COVID19 pandemic has ended. Those changes will surely include increased PPE, social distancing, additional equipment, and others. Much of these protocols have yet to be confirmed. We will reach out to patients once the regulations are finalized by Public Health and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.

Until then, know that we are busy preparing to be able to provide our community with specialized pediatric dental care.

Sincerely,

Dr. Goralski and Dr. Morley | pediatric dentists

April 28th 2020

As you know, Ontario has been in a state of emergency since mid March and dental offices have been ordered to stop all regular dental care in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19.  We have been closely following recommendations from Public Health and our office has now essentially been closed for the past 6 weeks.

There are many changes coming to the way dental care will be delivered due to COVID19. In time we will be allowed to reopen for care, and we are committed to instituting best practices to keep patients and staff safe. In the time that we have been closed, we have been actively making changes to the office and developing protocols to meet that goal and be ready for lies ahead.

Many of the details as to when and how we will be allowed to reopen are still unknown. The situation is evolving and we will keep you updated regarding your child’s appointments.  Our priority continues to be the health and safety of our patients and staff, and providing specialty dental care for kids in our community.

Thank you for your patience in this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Dr. Goralski and Dr. Morley | pediatric dentists
